Winters in Pittsburgh can be long. And with little kids, they can seem really really long. Luckily, there are a lot of fun inside things to do in Pittsburgh when it’s freezing outside. Here are 5 of our favorite things to do.
Ross Park Mall Indoor Play Area
Ross Park Mall has a big soft play area for kids. It is on the ground floor, right in the center of the mall, near Cheesecake Factory. The floor is a bit squishy and there are slides, tunnels, and bridges for the kids to play on. The only downside is that it is not enclosed, so make sure to keep a close eye on your little ones.
Party Lane
This is a cute little business that opened up a year ago in Mars. It’s set up like a mini village, with playhouses where kids can grocery shop, ride on cars, dress up, etc. It’s $10 per child, but I think you can buy a punch card at a discounted rate. They also have special storytimes, music classes, and painting classes. Lots of fun!
Playground World
This is actually a playground equipment store, but it’s open for free play on certain days. It costs $6 per child, but they also have certain hours when it is free. Check their Facebook page for hours, as they can change regularly. It’s a great way to break up the stir-craziness by allowing your child run, climb, slide, and jump. It is located in Wexford on Route 19.
Shaler Library
Shaler Library has more activities and events for kids than any of the other libraries I’ve been to in the area. It seems like there is always something going on. They also have a large room with a lot of fun toys for kids to play with. And don’t forget to bring home lots of books to read!
Wildwood Highlands
Located past North Park, Wildwood Highlands has arcade games, laser tag, etc., but what is great for little kids is their indoor play structure. It is made up of the typical tubes, slides, and ball pit, but it is pretty big, so the kids love it. To just play on the play structure costs $4 for kids three and under and $5 for kids four and older.
