Self Love is a Non Negotiable for 2021: 3 Ways to Treat Yourself At Home

A lot of things were brought to light last year. We were all rocked to the core as everything was uprooted and tossed around, leaving us to pick them up as they lie. We spent most of our time secluded. The threat to our mental and physical health was a wake up call to me.

Between being scared, depressed, and anxious of what the future held I knew I would need reinforcements to keep myself going for my little one.

So I ramped up my self love. I began trying new self love rituals left and right and let me tell you, the game has been changed. I know it may seem counterintuitive to immerse oneself in indulgences while ish goes down in the world, but it’s exactly what I needed. I’m also willing to bet you need some self love, too.

Far too long have we been putting it to the side for the things we have to do. In order for us to protect our health and energy, self love must become a non negotiable here on out. That doesn’t mean spa days everyday, if you can schweet! It does mean you have to start being intentional with your time, creating a little self love moment for yourself.

I know what you’re thinking, Brittany I don’t know how to love myself or do it consistently. Don’t worry girl, I got you! Here are 3 simple self love practices you can start doing today, right from your home.

  1. Put the phone down- I know too simple and it feels impossible. Take a peek at your screen usage and look at how much time you spend on your phone. Besides work and simple things needed, too much social media robs time of your self love. What can you do with just 30 more minutes of your time by putting the phone down? Social media also gives us comparisonitis, causing us to be so hard ourselves for no reason.
  2. Drink more water- We are mostly made of water. So when we get dehydrated we can deal with some symptoms like fatigue, depression, headaches, and brain fog to name a few. Drinking water is one of the most simple ways to practice self love.

  3. Get dressed up for no reason at all- Cheesy I know, but you deserve to feel beautiful Queen! Being stuck at home made me excited to not have to “get dressed” then I realized I was feeling frumpy and looking like whodunit after while. It doesn’t have to be an entire outfit. It can be lipstick or earrings or something as a simple as wearing your favorite hat, shirt, etc. It’s an instant confidence and self esteem booster.

Just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you don’t get to enjoy feeling fancy and loved, even if it’s from you. The next time you dress up tag us on IG and FB to show us how you self loved for the day <3
