Breathe Easier with Clean Air Ducts from Sears Cleaning of Pittsburgh

As a homeowner, there are several things that you’re told you should do to maintain your home but let’s face it who has time for everything. Because three out of five of my family members suffer some form of asthma, I knew having our air ducts cleaned was probably a good idea. I’ve seen ads on the internet and heard people talk about it but honestly, I didn’t even understand what it meant. I was recently offered an opportunity by Sears Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning of Pittsburgh to have a complimentary air duct cleaning done in my home.

As a busy mom, I was excited to find out they offer cleaning six days a week and everything can be scheduled online. I was able to pick a time of day and day that worked best for my schedule. Once scheduled, I received a confirmation email with instructions. The only prep work I needed to do beforehand was to make sure the furnace was easily accessible!

On the day of the appointment, the technician called me to let me know that they would be arriving within an hour. When Jake and Adam arrived, they were professional and put booties on to protect my floors from their shoes. It was a really cold day and we had just had a large snowfall the day before, so I appreciated not having salt and dirt tracked around my house. Both men walked around the house with me counting each vent and explaining the process along the way. One of my big concerns was that the entire visit was just going to be a sales pitch, but it was not at all. They were both so knowledgeable about the process and really wanted to explain to me what was going on.

Although I vacuum almost every day, because we do have a large dog that sheds, I was amazed by how much dirt I could see when they took my covers off. The technicians told me that our vents were actually very clean and there was evidence that they had been cleaned before. (We just moved nine months ago, so I had no idea) It is recommended that the average household have your duct work be cleaned every 3-5 years and encouraged that households with members suffering for asthma or other respiratory illness to do them at least every 3 years.

When the air duct cleaning was complete, they also cleaned the furnace and put in a new air filter that I had at my house. They used non-toxic cleaner on the furnace that was safe not only to my family but also our dog.  They also cleaned out our dryer vent. Did you know that dryer vents are the number 1 cause of house fires, because I didn’t know that. I have been a homeowner for almost ten years and I’m going to be honest and say I’ve never cleaned our dryer vent.

The entire cleaning process was simple and took just over 90 mins. They do have to cut holes in the ductwork but when the service is complete they patch the hole and secure it not only with specialty tape but also with screws. In the future when we have our air ducts cleaned, the technicians will reuse the openings they already created. All dirt and debris that is removed from the air ducts is collected in their truck and removed from your property.

On the day of the cleaning, my middle son Nathan was home sick from school and I was concerned that he would be in the technicians’ way.

(If you have read my posts in the past, then you probably know my son Nate has significant medical needs and is considered special needs.) All my fears of him being in the way was quickly dismissed by Jake and Adam who not only talked to him but got him involved in the process! Nathan followed them around and they even let him try the cleaning wand. He was overjoyed, and this momma’s heart couldn’t have been happier. The kindness and professionalism of these two men were overwhelming and would make me recommend this service to anyone!!! Thank you, Jake and Adam, for not only leaning my house with clean air ducts but for creating memories for my son.

I was overall impressed with the service I received and loved how fresh my house smelled and felt afterwards. I would recommend Sears Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning of Pittsburgh to my friends and family members. Besides air duct cleaning, they do offer carpet and upholstery cleaning, garage door installation, tile and grout cleaning, and air purification.
