Birthdays Are For Celebrating Life!

Everyone’s birthday is a big deal, but as a special needs mom, my son’s birthday is just a little bit extra special to me!

If you have read, my other post on this site, you’ll know I have the honor to be Nate’s mom! When he turned one, I had a huge Winter-ONE-derland birthday party for

First Birthday

him because  he had overcome so many odds that first year of life! Well fast forward to his second birthday,  we had another big party to not only celebrate his birthday ,but we also got to celebrate his adoption day. The reason his second birthday was such a monumental occasion was he had been incredibly  sick that year and we had been told many nights that he may or may not make it, but our little fighter proved them wrong every time.

Well fast forward and now my super hero is turning 5 years old!! Yes this past year has been full of new diagnoses, open heart surgery, and some scary nights in the hospital, BUT once again he has defied all odds!!

So yes I admit it, my kids birthdays are a big deal at my house and guess what I’m ok with it! It really doesn’t matter if the party is big or small, it just matters that you celebrate life!
