This past weekend my husband and I had the opportunity to enjoy an evening at Embassy Suites by Hilton Pittsburgh Downtown. If you haven’t been to the iconic Henry Oliver Building – we recommend checking it out. This new upscale hotel, located directly across the street from Pittsburgh’s beautiful Mellon Square Park, provides breathtaking views from the top floors of the building. I am a full time working mom (and have three kids ages 2, 6, and 8) and my husband works two jobs and coaches a high school sport. Obviously, this was a rare chance for us to getaway and recharge. Knowing our children were in good hands we were able to de-stress and relax… we soaked up EVERY second we had and LOVED every minute!
As we pulled up to the entrance of the Embassy Suites we were greeted by the most pleasant valet staff. At that point, we unloaded our bags and entered into a world only focused on ourselves! With our busy schedules it’s so easy to forget to have “us” time so this was a very welcomed escape from the craziness of everyday life! The Embassy Suites saying, “We’ve Figured Out How to Make Everyone Happy” already stood true for us as we anticipated a Sky Lobby and check-in on the 25th floor.
The beautiful artwork and waterfalls really set the tone for a relaxing stay. Check-in was extremely smooth and we were provided keys that only allowed guests access to the floors with rooms. (Love this security feature!) Walking to our rooms we wondered how we were going to handle so much quiet time. That’s when we walked in to our beautiful 2 Room Suite that contained a bottle of champagne on ice and breathtaking views all around us!
After enjoying our champagne we decided to head out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Some time together in Market Square was just what the doctor ordered! Once we had soaked up enough sun rays we headed back to the hotel where we enjoyed the Embassy Suites Evening Reception featuring two hours of complimentary cocktails including healthy snacks for adults and kids. Rarely do you find a hotel offering daily complimentary receptions.
Next-up… dinner. We headed over to the hotel restaurant, Elevation. Quiet, romantic, and amazing food! Elevation, is a Modern American Bistro with an upscale casual atmosphere. They focus on fresh high end ingredients. Local ingredients are in many items along with homemade pasta, hand cut steaks and fresh fish! And the desserts…all I can say is WOW!
By the time dinner was over can you say “exhausted!” We finished out the evening sipping on a few cocktails, listening to music and admiring the amazing views from our hotel windows! Saturday morning came and we were renewed people. We started the morning off with a swim at the indoor pool and then headed over to enjoy our cooked-to-order breakfast.
Refreshed and full we headed home feeling anxious to see our three busy children. Our conversation on the way home included our plans to return to the Embassy Suites for a second staycation. Our return visit will be a family trip as we know how much our children would be amazed just to see an aerial view of our beautiful city.
