Pittsburgh Area Fall Festivals- October 2019

Fall is officially upon us! Last month, we featured some of the amazing greater Pittsburgh area fall festivals being held in the month of September.  If you missed it, check it out here.  Now that we’re officially into fall, get your over-sized sweaters and tall boots ready, because we’re sharing even more fall festivals to enjoy!

Let’s start with a reminder of some of the events we shared in our last post that last into October:

Soergel Orchard’s offers pumpkin and apple picking, face painting, hayrides, music and awesome food every weekend from September 21st through the end of October.  This festival is a can’t miss for my family, and we love ending it by visiting the farmers market for fresh produce and homemade goods.

This event spans two weekends in September and October, and is packed with things for families to do!  Carnival rides, antique truck shows, craft shows, and the Tournament of Leaves Parade are just some of the reasons to head out to Clarion during one or both of these weekends.

Held at the festival grounds at Seven Springs, this 4 weekend event is packed full of fun for people of all ages.  Each weekend has a full list of events, great food, live music, and a chance to view the changing leaves from a chairlift.

Hayrides, a corn maze, pick your own pumpkin…what’s not to love about this yearly fall festival located at a beautiful 150 year old farm?  Every weekend starting at the end of September and running through the end of October, Trax Farms offers family fall themed fun.

Now let’s talk about some October exclusive festivals!

Some of the unique offerings of this fall festival include a garden tractor pull, largest pumpkin contest, recipe contest, and tough man fire truck pull.  Meet the Pumpkinfest Court and enjoy live music, food and crafts at this celebration of fall foliage.

  • 10/4-10/6- Applefest– Downtown Franklin, PA

A beloved festival by many Franklin residents (and those outside of Franklin too!), this apple-centric weekend features over 300 arts and crafts vendors, historic district tours, live entertainment, and plenty of food, both apple themed and not.  Baking enthusiasts can enter the apple pie baking or eating contest on Saturday, October 5th.

Come celebrate the best fruit October has to offer in Delmont, PA!  Featuring apples, fresh cider, children’s activities, tractors, crafts and more, this event is sure to be a blast for the whole family.

Last month, we talked about the Smicksburg Apple Festival, and the charm of this beautiful Amish community.  Travel back to Smicksburg in October to once again enjoy live music and entertainment, Amish foods, wagon tours and an antique tractor show in this quaint Indiana County town.

Located in historic downtown Bedford, this event features local arts, crafts and culture.  Enjoy the Pennsylvania mountain scenery as you browse craft booths and enjoy fresh food and live music.

This event is held in the two communities of Zelienople and Harmony.  Pick up seasonal produce at the farmer’s market, browse antiques, arts and crafts, and enjoy country foods.  Kids will love the pony rides and petting farm, and adults will love the car cruise in Harmony.  This event has something for everyone!

Tractor hay rides, pony rides, and pumpkin decorating, what’s not for kids to love?  Older kids will love some of the spookier attractions of this Aliquippa area event, and parents will love the free admission and delicious foods.

Here’s to a cozy October filled with apples, pumpkins, and the best fall activities PA has to offer!
