Ah, September. The temperatures have started to drop, pumpkin spice flavors are being released back into the world, and everyone starts enjoying the coziness of fall on the horizon. It’s an amazing time to live in the greater Pittsburgh area, with beautiful fall foliage, perfect apple picking weather, and an abundance of Fall Festivals to entertain you and your kids throughout the month.

- 9/7- Lake Latonka Fall Festival– 420 Latonka Dr, Mercer, PA 16137
Located in the Big Red Barn at Lake Latonka, this event started as a craft fair and now features hundreds of small businesses, non- profits, crafters, and entertainment.
- 9/12-9/14- Tarentum Fall Festival– 1st. Ave & Riverview Park at Lock St., Tarentum, PA 15084
This Fall Festival is often praised as a great family-oriented event. There is a nightly carnival, plenty of food and crafts, live music, and fireworks. “Touch a truck” offers kids the opportunity to see fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances up close.
- 9/13-9/15- Smicksburg Apple Festival– E Kittanning St, Smicksburg, PA 16256
This weekend is all about everyone’s favorite fall fruit- apples! Most of this Amish town celebrates the festival with a variety of entertainment, apple themed food, and hand crafted items. Buggy rides throughout the town are offered, and kids can experience the Civil War hands on with period costumes, marching drills, and civil war demonstrations in Old Smicksburg Park.
- 9/13-9/15- Bavarian Fall Fest– Downtown St. Marys PA 15857
This German-centric festival features German cuisine like Reubens and sausages, in additional to crafts, raffles and entertainment. Highlights for the family include a free Kids Zone on Saturday afternoon, and a pancake breakfast Sunday morning.
- 9/20-22- Scottdale Fall Festival– Corner of Pittsburgh and Spring Street
Held at the Gazebo in Scottdale, this event features free admission and free entertainment, including a parade and dog show the kids are sure to love. Running enthusiasts can participate in the weekend’s 5 or 10K, and local vendors offer a variety of food options.
- 9/21- Cranberry Festival– Morrison Park, Seneca PA
This event has something for everyone! Kids can enjoy face painting, balloon art, and painting a car (yes- an actual car!). Adults can enjoy a car and motorcycle cruise- in, prize raffles, and fresh baked cranberry goods.
- 9/21-10/27- Soergel Orchard’s Fall Festival– Soergel Orchard, Wexford PA
Soergel Orchard’s offers pumpkin and apple picking, face painting, hayrides, music and awesome food every weekend from September 21st through the end of October. This festival is a can’t miss for my family, and we love ending it by visiting the farmers market for fresh produce and homemade goods.
- 9/28- Butler Fall Festival– Pullman Park, Butler PA
This is a free to the public event with live entertainment, arts and crafts, and a kid zone with bounce houses, petting zoo, games and a barrel train. A car cruise with antique cars will take place between Brady and Pearl Streets.
- 9/28-29- Cecil Township Fall Festival-Cecil Park, Cecil PA
There are over a hundred vendors at this yearly festival, and plenty to do for families. This year, look forward to a strolling magician, petting zoo, six live bands, a kids train, and a fireworks show Saturday night.
- 9/28-10/6- Autumn Leaf Festival– 650 Main Street, Clarion PA
This event spans two weekends in September and October, and is packed with things for families to do! Carnival rides, antique truck shows, craft shows, and the Tournament of Leaves Parade are just some of the reasons to head out to Clarion during one or both of these weekends.
- 9/28-10/20- Autumnfest– Seven Springs, PA
Held at the festival grounds at Seven Springs, this 4 weekend event is packed full of fun for people of all ages. Each weekend has a full list of events, great food, live music, and a chance to view the changing leaves from a chairlift.
- 9/28-10/27- Trax Farms Fall Festival– Trax Farms, Finleyville, PA
Hayrides, a corn maze, pick your own pumpkin…what’s not to love about this yearly fall festival located at a beautiful 150 year old farm? Every weekend starting at the end of September and running through the end of October, Trax Farms offers family fall themed fun.
