RADical Days 2016: October 1 -8
Free admission from now until October 8 to Fort Pitt Museum, National Aviary, Carnegie Science Center, tours of Heinz Field, The Frick, Pittsburgh Zoo, Pittsburgh Botanic Garden and many children theater performances. See website for more details.

Pumpkinfest in The North Side: October 8
Visit the largest City of Pittsburgh children’s fall festival, Pumpkinfest. Over 5,000 in attendance, this event offers pumpkin decorating, fall games, hay rides, and lots of candy. It’s a fall day of fun for the whole family!

Pumpkin Patch Trolley at the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum: Oct 14-16, 21-23, 28-30
Enjoy the beautiful changing fall colors on the annual Pumpkin Patch Trolley Ride. For three weekends in October, your family can travel on the festive trolley to the pumpkin patch where you will enjoy refreshments, pick out a pumpkin, decorate it, and take it home.

Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie’s Doorway to Magic at the Consol Center: October 14
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy and 25 favorite Disney characters will entertain with music and grand illusions at the Doorway to Magic event. See Cinderella’s ballgown transform, the Toy Story’s box defy gravity, and be surprised by Tinker Bell. The magic of Disney is coming to Pittsburgh.

Maker Faire at the Buhl Community Center: October 15-16
Learn to make it yourself! Meet the “makers” and get ideas from inspiring projects ranging from robotics, fashion, 3D printers, textile arts and crafts, green tech, game systems, chemistry projects, bicycles, unusual machines and more.

Muttster Mash – A Haunting 5k Race and Hike for Hounds: October 16
Dress your dog and family in costume, and lace up your shoes at the Muttster Mash. Spooky Halloween activities will keep your whole family busy. Awards for best costumes and 5k winners. Trick or DOG treat!

Finding Neverland at the Benedum: October 18-23
This musical is Broadway’s biggest new hit! Based on the Academy-Award nominated film, Finding Neverland follows the make-believe adventures of Peter Pan where anything is possible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever.

Bump in the Night at Frick Park: October 21, 22, 28, 29
Carve a pumpkin, take a night hike, join a sing-a-long and sit around the campfire. Get the family exploring the outdoors at Frick Park. Activities geared toward ages 3 to 9 years old.

Zoo Boo at the Pittsburgh Zoo: October 22-23, 29-30
Dress up in Halloween costume and join the parade and costume contest. Participate in fall activities throughout the zoo, collect treats, and get spooked at the not-so-haunted house. Lots of monkeying around happening at Zoo Boo!

Owl-A-Ween at The Aviary: October 22 & 29
Meet and take a picture with our favorite nighttime birds, the owls. Wear a costume for the costume parade, then check out the owl crafts, super worm race, paper bag ghosts, treats, and more. Whooo’s ready for Owl-o-Ween?

Halloween Happenings at Phipps: October 28
Phipps will transform into Halloween headquarters with pumpkin carving, spooky plant potting, witches brew display, entertainment and refreshments. Come dressed in costume and have fun at the boo-tanical garden!

Fall Festivals at Local Farms: Throughout October
Fall festivals at local Pittsburgh area farms begin in September. Take the family for hay rides, apple picking, farm animals, play areas and corn mazes. See direct links for farm information and details: Simmons Farm, Soergels Farm, Trax Farm, Triple B Farms, and Shenot Farm.

Community Events Manager - Jamie Welnick lives in the North Hills of Pittsburgh with her two year old son (Pete), husband of 5 years (Mark) and rescue dog (Dot). She is the go-to person for events in the region, and loves to pack up her family on weekends to check out a new community event, free concert, family fun run or outdoor hike. When Jamie is not exploring a new part of Pittsburgh, she enjoys running, restoring furniture and time at the lake. Her career experience includes management in corporate marketing, non-profit organizations, special events and media.
