The Day My Princess Was Born: Birthday Tribute to My Daughter

It was a snowy December night, and my water broke.  I just went to the doctors that morning, I was one centimeter dilated.  I thought I had 3 more weeks until you came, but you had different plans.  My lovely friend took your dad and I to the hospital, we arrived around 1 a.m. I was so nervous but excited.  I had been blessed with a wonderful pregnancy with you.  Feeling you move was the best feeling, watching you grow was amazing.  I took tons of belly pics.  It is still hard to believe that you were in my belly, we joke about that all the time now.  bellypic

I received my epidural around 4 a.m. It definitely helped time with the pain. Your dad was sleeping in the chair across from me.  I remember how quite it was,  and how I couldn’t believe you were on your way.  I tried my best to sleep but it seemed impossible, my little princess was on her way.  It was time to push around 11:30 a.m. Daddy was right by my side.  Your Meme and Aunt Tina were in the waiting room waiting to see you.  After about 45 minutes of pushing, my beautiful baby girl was born at 12:27. You were 6 lbs 5 oz and 19 inches long.  Your eyes were so big and beautiful and you kept them on me the entire time.   You didn’t cry, you let out a little yell and just kept looking at Mommy.  You had beautiful straight hair and the cutest fingers and toes.  I’ve never been a person to cry happy tears but holding you the first time made me cry the happiest tears of joy.  My heart was so full with love and happiness that I finally had my princess in my arms.

As I write this 4 years later I still remember this day like it was yesterday.  I feel so blessed to be a mom to such a beautiful sweet little girl.  You have grown into my thoughtful little leader, always ready to help.  I always think about our first nights together at the hospital when your birthday comes around.  You were so tiny and our bond was so strong.  I am so proud of the big girl you have become, and I’m so happy to have you in my life.  I wanted to do something special for your birthday so I’m dedicating this post to you baby girl.  This was the best day of my life and I want to share it with the world.  You mean so much to me and I thank you for being the person you are.

Happy Birthday Baby
