I am a Grocery Pickup Goddess

Local grocery stores are offering at store pickup and even home delivery!  Can I get an AMEN!  I remember when I was about 7-8 months pregnant the last thing I wanted to do was get in an out of my car and waddle around the grocery store.  Not only to forget half of my items but also be that person who started eating items in her cart before checkout.  Oh and lets not forget how exhausted I was from that journey AND I still had to unload everything and put it away once I got home.  Such a tiring experience.

Before my daughter arrived I had this genius plan to make a bunch of freezer meals and do a Costco trip to get anything and everything we could possibly need as if I was about to stay homebound for the next 6 months.  Well I like to eat, my husband likes to eat and once the baby comes and you are home 24/7 you like to eat even more.  The mood swings and hormones don’t help either.  Plus they say when you are breastfeeding and pumping you need extra calories so obviously that means way more just than the apple they suggest, at least in my world.

So I quickly discovered grocery pickup.  This phenomenon is brilliant.  Step 1: order online.  Step 2: checkout.  Step 3: go to the store, stay in your warm comfy car, and pickup.  Don’t lift a finger!!!  Step 4: sorry… you still have to unload (unless you are sneaky and plan to arrive back home when your husband is home to do it) but if not I’ll take it!

Also, let’s not forget that you do not have to get the new adorable tiny baby in and out of the car seat, in and out of the car, in and out of the cart.  No rain, no snow, no wind. PLUS you don’t have to play Jenga with your groceries while the car seat is strategically placed in the cart and you have no room. Why do they make it so the carts don’t hold car seats…. seriously, who’s idea was that?

If you have not yet tried grocery pickup I strongly recommend it!  My first 3 visits were totally free at our local Giant Eagle and after that its just $5!  Totally worth it and I am saving so much money because I am only getting the items on my list not the extras that look good as I browse the store!  My area does not currently qualify for delivery but if it did you better believe I wouldn’t be leaving my house for groceries EVER.

Wal-Mart also offers pickup, with some orders being available on the same day you order. And, it’s free.

I encourage you to try this experience, pickup a Starbucks on your way and be that basic mom who has a few minutes of feeling like a grocery store goddess!
