My husband and I were getting our oil changed at our local car dealership and I was teasing him in front of the receptionist. She asked, “are you with him because you need him or like him?” I responded (probably to quickly) “need him because he does most of the cooking and without him I would starve.”
And while the above is very true I also kind of like him.
I need him because he cooks every weekend breakfast and most of our dinners.
I like him because he shows up for doctor’s appointments, school conferences, baseball games, practice, and every little thing in between.
I need him because he keeps our son occupied while I take a shower.
I like him because he takes care of our son while I am having dinner with my friends.
I need him on weekends because sometimes my coffee is ready by the time I get downstairs.
I like him because he takes our son to Penguin games and spends boys’ nights with him.
I need him to clean my car even though it’s more for his pleasure than necessity.
I like him because he doesn’t judge my coffee and wine consumption.
I need him because we are a team and try to split most things 50/50.
I like him because he listens to me vent, hears me when I cry, and supports me when I make decisions.
I need him to continue to make me laugh until I cry.
I like him because he has had his fair share of messy poop cleanups, sleepless nights, and sick kid cuddles.
I need him to almost always calm down my crazy.
I like him because he works hard but makes sure he puts his family first.
I need him to be my best friend.
And I like that what makes him a great husband makes him an even better father.
Are you team #needhim or #likehim or maybe even #both?
